Certificate
Certified Human Rights Officer
(„Zertifizierter Menschenrechtsbeauftragter“)

Since 1 January 2024, companies with more than 1,000 employees have been obliged to appoint a human rights officer. The human rights officer must monitor the company's risk management, i.e. check whether the company is implementing its due diligence obligations.

Human rights due diligence obligations in the own business operations and in the supply chain exist not only in the LkSG, but also in a large number of EU laws (e.g. CS3D, Deforestation Regulation, Battery Regulation, Forced Labour Regulation) and in other national legislation as well as in the requirements of international institutions (e.g. the OECD or the Global Compact).

As a human rights officer, it is important to understand the growing importance of human rights and the interplay between national and international

regulations as well as the requirements of the UN Guiding Principles and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.

In this one to three-day certificate course, you will learn more about human rights due diligence, its development and global expansion. The certificate course focuses on the requirements of the LkSG and CS3D for companies and the role and responsibility of human rights officers in this area.

This training is divided into three days, with the first day providing an overview of national and international legislation and its development, and days two and three diving deeper into implementation strategies. You can choose to attend the first day only to gain a general understanding, or you can choose to become certified as a Human Rights Officer in three days.
